Sub30s; Exploring the Ethics of Veganism
Friday 10th July, 19.00-20:30pm, hosted by Matty & Friends in conversation with Sangharuchi
This event is for anyone under 30 who has attended the Buddhist Centre or the University Meditation Society.
“All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. All love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?” Dhammapada 129
Buddhism suggests that we abstain from harming living beings; as with the consideration of all ethics however, they can be more complex than they first appear.
On July 10th, we will be discussing the relationship between Buddhism and veganism. Exploring questions such as, how does a vegan diet align with Buddhism? Beyond food, are there differences between vegetarianism and veganism? Do you have to be vegan to be Buddhist?
This is also a great chance to come together, meditate with and connect with other young Buddhists from in and around Birmingham. Join us, share your experiences and help build what we are sure will be a really interesting conversation.
Vegan Tea/snacks/cake is very much encouraged!
